Unraveling the pain
Blood stained bandages
Peeling away layers of pretense and who I thought I was
Thoughts of my past no longer feel the same
I thought it was healing, I just grew accustomed to the pain
The familiar sound of your intoxicating lies
Intruder, Intruder, Intruder
Bells ringing, bells ringing
Red flags violently flapping in the wind
Warnings of rip tides, threatening my perception of life
I get away
To steal a glance at me
No mirrors around
I closed my eyes
So I could see
My scars lay bare
Swollen inflamed
Sore to the touch
Clinching in pain
Here is the point of impact
Broken skin but the bone is intact
Reaching for understanding
Such high fruit
Dig down low to see the root
So that’s what happened
You came underground
Numb to my pain I didn’t hear a sound
Like blood to a shark
I called you to me
No worries
Elementary my dear
Elementary
